Ignorant statement.

I have no problem admitting ignorance on a subject, I just require proof.

Do you have any?

Guess not.

What a major hit!!!

OT or not, this is terrific news for everyone, boaters included. ;-)

Every time we wave the "Mission Accomplished" banner we find out that we
shouldn't be yelling "YAHOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!" quite so loudly.

Remind me again where I said or referenced anything about "mission
accomplished"?

Can you not enjoy the moment Jim and keep the politics out of this?

There was no reference to politics.

No, I cannot "enjoy the moment", what is there to enjoy?

An evil man was killed, along with many thousands of innocent people.
Tomorrow will be a violent one. Many will die violent deaths, both the
guilty and the innocent.

I find it all hard to "enjoy."

Let's see...this death was on the news at least by 6 o'clock AM yesterday,
and was repeated at least every ten minutes throughout the day. Sometime
yesterday evening, Mys terry quotes JimH's post which had just been made.
The post was OT, about an inflammatory subject, and self-guaranteed to
quickly become a political flamefest, which it did.

Now you are being castigated for not keeping 'politics' out of a
politically oriented post. Surely the post was meant to be much more than
informative, unless the OP thought every one had been in a cocoon all day.

sigh

No matter how you want to spin it my post was not politically motivated and
had nothing to do with politics.

However, you and others choice to make it so.

Do you have anything to offer here besides netcopping, negative posts and
recipe postings John?

What the hell are you talking about?

YOU said, "Can't I keep the politics out of this?" I didn't bring up
politics, just the sad fact that there's nothing to be so happy about.

There are no victories, no one wins a religious war. Everyone looses.

There will be no winning this war. Eventually we will pull out, as we
did in Viet Nam. There will always be people who will say that we could
have won, if only we had fought harder.

"Those damn liberals. . ." But liberals have nothing to do with the
FACT that in all of history, there is NO such thing as a victory in a
religious war.

I can't figure out why they have brought whats left of him to the U.S.
to perform an autopsy on whats left of him.

Why bring him here?

sort of ironic, that it would rimind me of Clint Eastwoods' "Outlaw

the guy says.
"Well...arn't we going to buy them"?

Eastwood says.....

"Hell with those two! Buzzards gotta eat...same as worms!"

And considering the size and impact of the blasts. The military video
showing on the web is impressive but not very clear. I fisrt thought that
the safe house was surrounded by numerous other houses or buildings, many of
which appeared to be severely impacted by the blast. But that is not at all
the case. The safe house is (was) remote, out along a road in an area that
appears to be orchard or managed forest of some sort. You can see it on
Google Earth at N33 48 03 E44 30 48. The military video is a view looking
southward.

He'll be autopsied over there.

"With rumors circulating in the Iraqi news media that Mr. Zarqawi had begun
to run from the house as the first bomb struck, American officials said
Saturday that two military pathologists had arrived in Iraq to perform an
autopsy on his body to determine the precise cause of his death.

The results from the autopsy, and Mr. Zarqawi's precise location at the
time of the airstrike, will be disclosed soon, an American military
official said. American officials said he had suffered no gunshot wounds,
trying to dispel suggestions that someone had delivered a coup de grāce at
the scene."

Now, what's the weather like. Are you going out today? Here, Chesapeake

I did hear that DNA samples had been taken, and these samples were
transported back to FBI or military labs in the US for analysis, but I
belive pathologists were sent to Iraq to perform an autopsy there.

I'd thought on the same lines. a pork sausage stuffing, and pig blood
enema. and If Nick Berg's dad would be willing, have had him stood by
with a dull hacksaw blade.....

I saw Nick Berg's dad interviewed on a couple of the news networks. He
claims he didn't want al-Zarqawi killed. He wanted to meet with him to see
if they could "work out" the differences between our cultures. He has also
decided to run for Congress

Strange guy.

He is an unusual fellow, but I guess he is entitled to feel that way.
Me, I would have shoved Zarquawi down a stair railing made of razor blades
into a vat of boiling sulphuric acid, just to scar him up and make the
rest of his life pleasant, especially when he moved.

My comment of him being a "strange guy" was more related to his decision to
run for Congress ... (oh, well..) But ... do you remember a movie made
years ago (I must have been in my teens when I saw it) in which there is a
scene with (apparently) Arab soldiers standing at attention and a gigatic,
curved blade about 30 feet high behind them? I think the blade was called
the "Iron Maiden". Maybe that was also the name of the movie. Anyway, to
prove their committment to a non-Arab visitor, the commander of the group of
soldiers walked down the ranks, stopped in front of one soldier and asked if
he believed in Allah. The soldier gulped, glanced at the Iron Maiden and
nodded his agreement. He was then led up a ladder to the top of the blade,
knelt down and fell forward, riding the blade edge to his death.

It still gives me the willeys when I think about it.

I remember that, too, and with the willies also. It was a very B grade yarn
called "The Tall Ships", starring Richard Widmark. The device was called
"the Mare of Steel".

That's it. Just goes to show how the memory plays tricks. I remembered it
