But, since this is a boating NG and not the "neat old cars" discussion
forum, how about your first ever boat?
Mine was an old lapstrake rowboat on a freshwater lake. My folks had a
little cabin there, and I would row around the lake for hours at a
time. Sometimes fishing, sometimes just rowing around for the pure joy
of being on the water. Then when I was just a bit older my grandfather
bought a new fiberglass hull and built his own interior and deck for
about a 24' sloop. Some of the best ever times as a kid was sailing
with my grandfather.
Not counting my 1/4 share in a 20 man liferaft and my little 2 man
inflatable liferaft, my first boat was a new 1983 Siren 17 sailboat.
Light (750 lbs) and easy to trailer, two people could overnight in it.
A 3hp British Seagull provided backup power.
