That car lasted me till it was stolen and I replaced it with a '64 Ford Galaxy I got for a steal from a neighbor. End of teenage cars. So how about you? 1962 Morris Minor 850 Station Wagon at age 16. Went out and ran it into the rear end of a Volkswagen Bug. That screwed me up for a year or two. Then I bought a 1967 Honda CB160 motorcycle. 1962 Mini Traveller: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...ategory=38 72 Oops, link for the '62 corrected. ;-) That's it...except mine had the wood trim on the back half of the car. Actually had 8 teenagers in it and busted the rear spring mounts. On a long downhill highway run I had it up to 89 mph. Pretty crazy on those 12" 'lifesaver sized' tires. Bittersweet memories on that car. Paid $400.00 for it, learned to drive by tooling around without a drivers license or insurance and eventually broke the accelerator in a stuck on position doing major motor damage. Another $400.00 for an engine re-build and I was in hock up to my eyes (making $1.35 per hour working weekends at a grocery store) Oh yeah...due to bad brakes I rear ended the Volkswahen doing $80.00 damage to it's bumper and the authorities make me surrender my plates until I paid for the Bug's repairs and showed proof of insurance. That was a major downer that affected me through most of high school. |
