Hah - like that will ever happen. :) Thanks for asking. Now that I am "experienced" .... I can honestly claim that it was no big deal, other than the anticipation. I don't know what the drugs are that they give you, but I remember not giving a %&8# while *she* explored. Kinda nice peace of mind knowing all was A-ok. That's what they tell me. I don't believe it. How's the General doing? New engine runs great and is strong but we are chasing a small oil leak. Taking it back to the shop Friday. It's coming from the bellhousing area and I suspect the rear main. The shop that did the work is insistent that it's got to be perfect. Meanwhile .... the F-350 is back at the dealership having a new turbo installed. Not having the best of luck with that truck. Fortunately it didn't die on the road this time. The "check engine" light came on, so I brought it in suspecting a bad sensor or something. The dealership called later in the day to inform me that they ordered a new turbo for it. ?????? RCE |

The shop that did the work is insistent that it's got to be perfect. I had a similar problem with the 440 in the GTX I sold. It's either the rear main or an oil leak with the right bank valve cover - that took me almost six weeks to find. I don't know if they reengineered the value cover or not on the new engines. ?????? I've got to admit that the 6 liter diesel isn't a great engine. I almost traded my 7.3 in on a new one and changed my mind when I started hearing about busted turbos, oil leaks (including turbos) and the ever cleverly designed fuel pumps dropping out at 30,000. I'm glad I did. One of my buddies is a service manager for a Ford dealership and you would be surprised at how many 6 liter trucks he has on the schedule for this that and the other. He has one that went through two fuel pumps and a turbo - like yours right? I was suspicious of that 6 liter and now that they are building a six cylinder version of that engine - well, I think I'm sticking with my 7.3 for a couple more years. :) I mean, it's a 2000 F-250 and has 101,000 on it - just getting to the break in point. :) By the way, the value of the 7.3 has gone up, not down which is interesting. I can get the same $ trading it in as I paid for it in 2000. I heard rumors that Dodge was planning to replace the aging but relatively trouble-free Cummins it has been using in its diesel pick-me-up trucks. The rumor came from my plumber, who has a "fleet" of four Dodge heavy duties with service bodies. I offered to buy one of the used trucks if they were thinking of trading them in, but he said they ran them until they literally died. Ford is about to replace the 6.0 L with a new 6.4 L engine design. They claim it's because of more stringent emission requirements, but the rumor mill has it that Ford is losing their shirts with problems with the 6.0. Fortunately, they give a 100,000 mile warranty on the engine. I'll drive it for another 75,000 miles, letting them fix it every 6 months, then sell it. RCE |

But whatever they give you for this procedure was impressive. I remember the Doc telling me she was "all done" and I didn't want it to end. Bummed out. RCE |
