....... ...... ...... 'Hillary for president' rally draws 20 instead of hoped-for 200 By BONNA de la CRUZ Staff Writer A Hillary Clinton rally drew critics of President Bush, nonpartisan voters looking for a strong leader, and people who want to elect a female president. About 20 people attended the Tuesday event, the national kickoff for Hillarynow.com, a grass-roots group pushing to draft the New York senator and former first lady to run for president in 2008. "I've been fired up about her for a long time," said Mary Sneed, 64, of Pegram. "I think she can get things done. I admire what she's done in upstate New York. If she can win over New Yorkers, she can win over anybody." Organizers hoped to have 200 people at the event in Nashville, a city selected to show that Democrats can win in Southern states. They were disappointed but said they are not focused on numbers. "We can build something from this," said E. Gayle O'Hanlon, president of Enchanted Gingerbread, who cooked for and helped organize the fundraiser. Clinton is not associated with the group. "Hillary is focused on working for the people of New York and winning re-election to the U.S. Senate," Ann Lewis, director of communications for Clinton's Senate campaign, said via e-mail. Miami Beach-based activist Bob Kunst, the founder of Hillarynow.com, said Clinton needs the help of energized grass-roots supporters, not the Beltway consultants who tripped up the campaigns of John Kerry and Al Gore. "Out of this can come the White House, starting here in Nashville," Kunst said. "We're not afraid of the controversy, and we have to make the controversy an ally." Under large shade trees on a vacant lot in the Germantown neighborhood, the mostly female crowd picnicked. Two anti-Clinton protesters picketed on the sidewalk nearby. "Nashville is well-known as the buckle of the Bible Belt, and Hillary's position is in direct opposition to the values of both Republicans and Democrats," said protest organizer Tom Kovach, 48, of Mt. Juliet, a candidate for Congress in the 5th District. Attendees got custom-baked "Hillarynow.com ginger-girl" cookies that O'Hanlon baked and chocolate chip cookies from a Clinton recipe made by Goodlettsville chef Anna Lia Notardonato-Hicks. "Even if she doesn't run, at least we started a dialogue about having a woman president," Notardonato-Hicks said. · |

![]() ·The Cluster B personality disorders of the DSM-IV include the antisocial, borderline, histrionic, and narcissistic personality disorders. While none of these are a perfect description of the typical troll's behavior, they do share features with the troll. First of all is the antisocial personality disorder, also known as psychopathy or sociopathy. Antisocial behavior includes some of the following elements:  Failure to conform to social norms  Deceitfulness, as indicated by repeated lying, use of aliases, or conning others for personal profit or pleasure  Consistent irresponsibility  Lack of remorse, as indicated by being indifferent to or rationalizing having hurt, mistreated, or stolen from another Narcissism is the ego unbound. The DSM-IV describes the narcissistic personality disorder as, "A pervasive pattern of grandiosity (in fantasy or behavior), need for admiration, and lack of empathy, beginning by early adulthood and present in a variety of contexts...." Some indicative behavior are these:  Has a grandiose sense of self-importance (e.g., exaggerates achievements and talents, expects to be recognized as superior without commensurate achievements)  Is preoccupied with fantasies of unlimited success, power, brilliance, beauty, or ideal love  Has a sense of entitlement, i.e., unreasonable expectations of especially favorable treatment or automatic compliance with his or her expectations  Is interpersonally exploitative, i.e., takes advantage of others to achieve his or her own ends  Lacks empathy: is unwilling to recognize or identify with the feelings and needs of others  Shows arrogant, haughty behaviors or attitudes Some elements of the histrionic personality disorder, a disordered personality exhibiting an excessive need for attention, also manifest themselves in trolls:  Is uncomfortable in situations in which he or she is not the center of attention  Interaction with others is often characterized by provocative behavior  Has a style of speech that is excessively impressionistic and lacking in detail What the Cluster B personality disorders have in common is manipulative behavior, a lack of empathy, and self-centeredness. What separates trolls from typical people with Cluster B personality disorders is a form of social aversion or fear of identification that prevents them from acting out their self-centered behavior in less anonymous places. The result is that these needs are satisfied on the Internet. Here are my criteria for the Internet Troll Personality Disorder: The Internet Troll Personality Disorder is characterized by attention-seeking and disruptive behavior in anonymous, delocalized places of socializing. It is indicated by the following traits: 1. A tendency to make provocative comments to invoke emotional responses in others 2. A lack of connection to the community being trolled; i.e., will leave if desired response is not invoked ("Do not feed the trolls!") 3. A dissatisfaction with one's life and a cynical attitude towards things in general 4. A tendency to challenge the rules and authorities of a community 5. A preference to exhibit these behaviors only in places where one's true identity is unknown Disclaimer: It takes a qualified professional to diagnose anyone with a personality disorder. 'Hillary for president' rally draws 20 instead of hoped-for 200 By BONNA de la CRUZ Staff Writer That's a 10% approval rating for Hillary! 3.33%. The 200 folks they expected were Democrats...which make up only 1/3 of the population. 10% of 1/3 is 3.33%. That's how Zogby and the rest of the pollsters do it for Bush. |

I plan to needle most everybody who tries to take this group back to the mess it used to be. It's no secret that political topics turn this group into an outhouse, and even the best natured political troll usually blows up just a few posts into the thread. Then it's "Why are you blaming me for this forest fire? I only struck one little match...." The trolls and their apologists often wonder, "Why don't you just ignore the OT posts?" History holds the answer. Unless somebody is new here, he or she will know that the bad blood, the naming and flaming, and other antisocial behaviors quickly infect the on-topic threads as people stalk one another through the NG to continue personal grudge matches. The political crap winds up ruining the boating threads as well. Cancer spreads. I've said my piece. Now its free range for the guys who only hang around here hoping for a political war to break out. And whoopie zip: the old feuds can be renewed, the name calling can begin, the cut 'n pasting of rival surveys will commence, the parroting of Limbaugh, Pat Robertson, (or a liberal equivalent) can get into full swing, and folks will act out in this forum in a fashion that most (we can only hope) would *never* consider in person. Why the heck do you suppose this forum is called rec.boats? Should that mean anything at all? Is it an unreasonable expectation that a boat created to discuss boating should not be overrun with political arguments and personal ****ing matches? Those without the brains to find a political group for their political nonsense (or else the courtesy to go there when appropriate) deserve no coddling. As far as "Do as I say, not as I do"...I'll make you or anyone else the same offer I extended to another poster recently. Go ahead and start *twice* as many OT political threads as I do, and I promise not to comment until you exceed your quota. :-) So here y'all go: "HIllary Clinton" is about as good a trigger phrase as there is these days. Those who have been waiting for this moment can now proceed to garbage up the NG. |

snip I have no enthusiasm for any of the politicians on either side. Let the States run their own affairs and let Washington maintain our borders and security. Tired of Big Business running the Country. |
