Default Starting 2005 Honda 135hp outboard out of water with the 'earmuffs'?

Is this ok to do with this engine? I know we have done it with inboards with
no trouble, the garden hose to earmuff attachments around the water
intake, but how about with an outboard? This is my first experience with one.

Earmuffs on an inboard? Never had one but I still think you mean an I/O
(sterdrive). Of course you can use them on an outboard. A 2005 Honda
might have a direct hookup and will work better and possibly without
running the motor. Check your owners manual.
