Eliminating any quick disconect feature between the tank and the motor
means; You have just changed a Portable tank to a Permanently Installed
Fuel Tank. Which can alter your required equipment. Also if you want to
get technical, since this is a modification to the original design. You
may need to make this modification in compliance with 2006 regulations,
not the year in which the boat was built.

This is an installed tank and the problem occured because the USCG
mandated hose is about 3 times the size of a portable tank hose. The
added stress on the disconect fitting when you turn the engine quickly
compromises the fitting. My boat's equipment exceeds USCG
requirements, I have 2 sets of virtually everything, one back by the
helm and one forward in a "go box" in case the helm area is on fire
and I am bailing out.
8 years in the Boy Scouts and 6 years in the CG taught me to be
prepared.\

Run the fuel tank hose to a filter and the proper size for the motor from
the filter to motor.
