![]() But Harry, By your own confession you have stated many times that you don't put faith in the accuracy( let alone legitimacy) of Rasmussen polls. Bush is performing his role as President. Just 15% Strongly Approve. Those are the lowest levels ever measured by Rasmussen Reports. Just 65% of Republicans approve of the President's Job Performance, also a new low. This data is based upon nightly telephone surveys and reported on a three-day rolling average basis. For today's update, more than 75% of respondents were interviewed after the President Bush's speech on immigration. Just 39% of voters agree with the President's approach on immigration. Most consider the issue very important and believe that strict enforcement of immigration laws will help the economy. Democrats now hold a 15-percentage point lead over Republicans on the Generic Congressional Ballot. Before the President's speech, they had a 10-point lead. Just 27% of Americans believe the country is now heading in the right direction. |

Just 27% of Americans believe the country is now heading in the right direction. That's correct. I'm just trying to get NOYB's blood circulating this afternoon after his full morning of inhaling really bad breath. It is mildly interesting, though, that Bush's ratings on Rasmussen are finally sinking to the levels reported on the more legitimate polls. Rasmussen started weighting his polls about 2 weeks ago. Before that, it was always 50/50 (republicans and democrats). Ironically, Opinion Dynamics (which polls for Fox) *stopped* weighting...and Bush's approval rose from 31% to 35 or 36%. Bush has a near 0% approval among Democrats, and nearly 70% approval among Republicans...so I don't expect it to drop any more. In fact, as election day approaches, and Republicans come back to the President, his numbers should break back into the mid to high 40's. |
