Use an 8wt with Bill Adelman tied shad flies. The 8 wt because the local stripers have a habit of hitting the same flies at times. American shad? Great fish on light tackle. Although I've never had much luck with a fly, I could imagine they would be a handful. In the Delaware, they are running pretty good right now. Easy to fish a fly. No real casting involved. Since you use a shooting head to a mono running line (I use Amnesia), you need the fly down on the bottom. Flip the line out a ways and work it out along the seam. |
