Default rectifier connections

Does anyone know if it matters which posts the two wires coming from the
stator are connected to on a "1971 Mercury 800 80HP outboard rectifier?"

The two yellow wires go to the two outside posts/terminals on the
rectifier. As this is ungrounded AC, it does not matter which yellow to
which outside terminal.

The red wire goes from the center post/terminal on the rectifier to the
switchbox.
