But why aren't the political leaders of the countries in Europe screaming? Or are they and we just don't hear it? RCE |

Everytime someone mentions the rising cost of gasoline I hear someone saying how expensive it is somewhere else. It's price is relative to the US economy and my wages or am I missing something. |

It's price is relative to the US economy and my wages or am I missing something. My favorite is "inflation adjusted, it's cheaper than it was in 1970". And the year was actually 1976...........and the comment was made in response to: "I remember when Gas at the pumps jumped from $.35 to $.74 per gallon over night when Jimmy Carter was in office." To which a response was made: "74 cents a gallon? Wow!" To which was posted: "When considering inflation, the 1976 USD was worth $.27 to a 2006 USD. A $.39 increase/gallon in 1976 in today's USD's converts to a $1.44 increase." Wow.......indeed. ;-) |

RCE I believe it's because a much higher percent of the European cost is due to taxes. The political leaders of those countries would be ****ing in their own shoes. -- 'Til next time, John H ****************************************** ***** Have a Spectacular Day! ***** ****************************************** |
