![]() The car originally had a 440 according to the VIN and fender tag, so I decided to keep it original. New, crate 426 hemi's are available from MoPar, but mucho bucks, not just for the engine, but for all the bolt-ons as well. The old 383 was pretty tired, as were all the bolt-ons, so we replaced everything. Oh, cool. I'd assumed it was a 383 car originally. Even though the 426 is a superior motor, I agree that it's much better to keep it matched with the VIN, so the 440 was the way to go. The 440 was built with a mild MoPar street cam and we went with a new 1800 RPM stall torque converter. Manifold is Edelbrock and carb is a Holley 800 cfm. Also did a transmission rebuild (727) so it should run pretty good. It's nicely dressed up, and will soon have somewhere to go. Barrett-Jackson, January '07? |
