Please forgive my basic question, but where are the grease points
(fittings) on a 2005 Alpha One Gen. II outdrive? There is one on the right-hand side of the transom unit, but I have not found any more. The user maintenance manual isn't very clear, as it mentions U-joint and bearing greasing, but does not show the location of the fittings, and it also mentions perma-lub U-joints that are permanently lubricated and do not need greasing, but does not clarify if this is the case of my drive. So I have the following specific questions: 1) Is the 2005 Alpha One Gen. II drive equipped with perma-lub U-joints or not? If not, where are the grease fittings? 2) In addition to the grease point on the right-hand side of the transom unit, are there any other grease points that need to be periodically lubricated? Where are they located? 3) The manual mentions that the lubrication interval is 300 hrs. Is this adequate? In my case it would mean once every three years. Should I grease the drive more frequently? 4) Not related to lubrication, but the manual says that the cooling pump should be inspected every 300 hrs - again, in my case it would be once every 3 years. Is this adequate? Should I do it more frequently (once a year, every other year)? I boat in brakish and fresh water, and the water is usually quite deep and clear. Many thanks for your help. |
