In a fit of insomnia, I saw some clips on Conan's show of somebody in a poly
white water kayak hurtling down a very steep snow-covered mountain side. Looked like they were doing braces at about 50 mph over snow/ice/rocks. Anybody know the story? Did they survive? -- PeteCresswell |

I tried that a couple of times, on easy to moderate hills with NOTHING to
run into......playboat is more fun with planing hull, but I swear....I have no idea why my paddle did not snap! Maybe deep powder would work better for control....BTW I'll not do it again, however it IS fun sliding down a snow covered bank into the creek\river on a winter run, but you need to be leaning downstream aggresively BEFORE you hit the current. Didn't see the clip described but a few years back Warren Miller had quite a
bit of footage of kayakers running powder slopes in his annual ski film. They were avoiding the trees and rocks without a problem, carving and linking graceful turns, and going over lips getting some air. "(PeteCresswell)" wrote in message ... It could well have been Shaun Baker. He's notorious for that sort of
thing. padeen wrote: Didn't see the clip described but a few years back Warren Miller had quite a bit of footage of kayakers running powder slopes in his annual ski film.
