Default New Boat

Well, I pulled the trigger last week and bought a 2006 Yamaha SX230 HO. My
family quickly outgrew the 19' Reinell bowrider I had previously. I had that
boat for 2 seasons, and sold it (in 2 days) on Craigs list for more than I
paid for it.

Calif Bill was the only response I got here that urged me against it (the
only response ... actually), but all my other research was positive. I've
had it out twice on a local lake, and couldn't be happier. I added some jet
steering fins to it ( www.cobrajetsteering.com ) and it handles almost as
well as my I/O at slow speeds and reverse, and much better than my buddy's
Mastercraft X-30 inboard. You can cross control the engines to do some very
impressive close quarter maneuvering as well. It's FAST as too... I had it
at 54MPH (gps) the other day.

I really bought it as a family boat, and at 23' it's perfect for my wife and
2 kids ( 6 and 3). The only towing sports we do now is tubing, and as the
kids get older, it will work for skiing and wakeboarding as well. My son and
I like to fish, and it has a huge two level rear deck that's perfect. It
also has a dinette type table you can set up out there or in the main area,
which makes things like lunch a real pleasure. If anyone is interested a
link to my boat is he

black though, not red.

I'd take good care of those motors.

7,000 rpm at 28mph cruise, 10,500 rpm wide open!

I certainly plan to. The layout is simply awesome...loads of room to work in
the engine compartment.

Check the suggested break in schedule. You might have to go easy for a
while.

Don't know much about them, but I've seen the Bombardier version which
is pretty cool.

Have fun with it - enjoy.

I did, and I have been. I did sneak it up to WOT a couple of times though
;-)
