Default motor ran for 1/2 second out of water

Depending on what he hit, having a stainless steel prop could have
resulted in far more significant damage than a broken prop. ;-)

That argument has been around as long as stainless props themselves. I
consider it an old wives tale, with no empirical data to support it, and
usually professed by those unwilling to part with the coin to buy stainless
propellers for their rigs. I've run nothing but stainless on every outdrive
I've ever owned over the last 30 years, and have never had any type of
outdrive damage traceable to running a high quality stainless propeller. I
wouldn't waste my breath trying to change the minds of those who consider
stainless props evil, but for me, I'll never run anything but stainless, for
a number of important reasons.
