Johnson/Evinrude sells products that are tested and known to be safe for use in
their outboards. Using something you are not sure of even once could do plenty
of damage. For example, using automotive carb spray in some outboards will
strip the protective coating from the inside of the carb then it will corrode
and poof. Why chance it?
