This has to be about the tenth ruling in Canada's favour over the
softwood lumber dispute.
Does anyone in the Bush administration have a lick of sense or shred of
decency , or the gonads to 'do the right thing'?

I don't understand this. How is Canadian lumber "cheaper" than that
we buy here in the states. Our currencies are almost equal nowadays,
the cost have to be higher in Canada if only because of fuel pricing
among other things.

How is it that Canadian lumber is cheaper unless it's subsidized
somehow?

Not looking to start a fight, just trying to understand the economics.


I would guess that the supply might be a bit thin in your
backyard....encouraging companies to maximize profits.

In Canada's west, a lot of lumber is cut from Crown Lands, where the
lumber companies pay a stumpage fee. (Americans say not high enough)
Here in Nova Scotia, it's mostly private woodlot owners...and we're not
affected by the American penalties.
The bottom line...We can save the average US homebuilder money if your
gov't would play by the rules.

I still don't understand it - I'll have to read up on it.

You'll probably find lobbyists from Oregon & Washington state might have
had something to do with it.

Americans come to a unanimous decision?
