Well, I am not promoting Bose by any means but if properly set up and
powered, the old Bose 901s could sound very good, IMO.

Properly set up, with the right powered amp, quite possibly the best
speaker out there.

I saw a demo once, were the Bose salesman literally plugged a 901
directly into an A/C wall outlet (110vac). It made a loud initial
crack sound, then sat there and loudly hummed. He left it "on" for
over 30 seconds, and there was no damage to the speaker.
