AIR AMERICA TUNED OUT?
http://www.nypost.com/entertainment/60684.htm

AIR America is close to losing its New York flagship station - knocking
Al Franken and his liberal colleagues off the air on their second
anniversary.
The network has a two-year lease with WLIB (AM 1190) that is reportedly
set to expire April 1 - and at least one reliable report says it is
"extremely likely" the deal will not be renewed.

Losing its New York outlet would be a serious blow to the fledgling
liberal radio network. "Radio Equalizer" blogger Brian Maloney - who
blew the whistle on questionable loans to the lefty network last year -
published the first report that WLIB was on the verge of evicting Air
America some time soon.

Air America's options for a new home are not promising. All of the
city's other strong-signal stations are spoken for, leaving only
weak-signal "fringe" stations that do not cover the entire city and
suburbs.

Air America parent Piquant LLC has reportedly been paying Inner City
Broadcasting - controlled by former Manhattan Borough President Percy
Sutton and his son, Pierre - $2.5 million a year to air Franken and
others.

An Air America spokeswoman told The Post, "It's business as usual," and
declined further comment.

Air America got unwanted headlines last year when it was learned that
previous management had received what investigators called an
"inappropriate" $875,000 loan - since repaid - from a Bronx charity.

Calls to Inner City execs were not returned.

Good grief, Dan. The very *title of this thread* was a lie, or at least

Fair play.

I've been ragging on the left end as well.

You see anything relevant to boating in the mule's post?
You see anything somebody would post here for any other reason than to
start a fight?

Why is it that so much of the OT stuff is essentially hateful or
divisive in nature?

You haven't been around here much lately if you think most of the
recent OT crap is leftist. Doesn't matter if it's right, left, red,
blue, democrat, republican, christian, moslem, jewish, or wiccan....if
it's posted here to start a fight nobody fricking needs it.

As for the panties, I'll leave those to the group who like to post
inflammatory crap on NG's using anonymous handles. Woo hoo. Big men.
"I'll make snide and crappy remarks and then hide behind my anonymity
or ever changing handle". Panties work well for guys like that, they

I have this theory that the more left you become politically, the more
right politically you are and vice versa.

Many political scientist believe political philosophy is circular not
linear. Hence the more left you become, you eventually become ultra
right wing or vice versa.

So you are not alone in your theory.

Get a red one, a white one and a blue one.

Good one. And make sure the ensign is properly red *and* blue, along
with white, of course. If you want to fly an all red ensign or an all
blue ensign, I guess that means relocating to country where everybody
thinks alike and nobody respects a difference of opinion. Sure as heck
wouldn't be the US, but there have been some recent social models in
the past 100 years or so, (many of them European), where only a single
type of thinking was considered "proper".

If one really wants to learn the meaning of red, white, and blue ensigns,
one should read all the Patrick O'Brian books.

I have been admonishing both sides pretty equally. I'm sure you don't
read any threads started by Harry Krause, but if you had read his very
recent thread about the Ayatollah somebody starting a conservative
Catholic Christian compound down in Florida, for instance, you would
have seen a disapproving reference to his hitting a "double" by
combining religion and politics in a single post.

Why does *anybody* need to dump OT political crap in here?
People who haven't got the ability to discuss boats or have no interest
in discussing boats and boating can, (for my money), shut up, sit back
and spectate or go find a group that is of actual interest to them.

Boating and discussions about boating shouldn't be f*cked up by
politics- yours or mine.

How about you, Bert? Can you see any aspect of this post at the head of
this thread that should be of interest to a boating NG? Me neither.
That means the only reason the mule posted it was to start some flame
wars and be disruptive. Screw that.

Actually, that's still not 100% correct. As I understand it,
"heeling" is what any boat does when it leans from wind

to one side due to uneven loading, flooding, or perhaps a

The above first one was from dictionary.com

This is from Merriam Webster:

This from Cambridge Dictionary online:

From Microsoft Encarta:

Definitions:

lean to one side: to lean to one side, or make a ship lean to one side

language than the scholars who work on various dictionaries.
The above first one was from dictionary.com

This is from Merriam Webster:
Function: noun
Etymology: origin unknown
: a deviation from the vertical : TILT; also : the extent of such a
deviation

This from Cambridge Dictionary online:
list (LEAN) Show phonetics
verb [i]
(of a ship) to lean to one side, particularly as a result of damage:
The tanker is listing badly and liable to sink at any moment.

From Microsoft Encarta:

list [ list ]

transitive and intransitive verb (past and past participle list·ed,
present participle list·ing, 3rd person present singular lists)

Definitions:

lean to one side: to lean to one side, or make a ship lean to one side

noun

Definitions:

sideways tilt: an inclination to one side, especially one developed by
a ship

[Mid-17th century. Origin ?]

so I guess that you are saying that of all the scholars and others who
have used this term since the 1600's are wrong, and you are the only
person in the universe that is right!??????

I believe he was contrasting the use of 'heel' with 'list'. Both could be
considered a 'lean' as far as a change from the vertical is concerned. In
my usage, 'heel' would be more appropriate as I was referring to a lean
caused by the wind, as opposed to the balance of the vessel itself.

Main Entry: 3heel
Function: verb
Etymology: alteration of Middle English heelden, from Old English hieldan;
akin to Old High German hald inclined, Lithuanian salis side, region
intransitive senses : to lean to one side : TIP; especially of a boat or
ship : to lean temporarily (as from the action of wind or waves) -- compare
LIST
transitive senses : to cause (a boat) to heel

This is most definitely 'semantics' at it's finest! I did not want to start
a flame war with my comment, and my apologies go out to all.

Your childish name calling does nothing positive for your credibility.
Please show how you've garnered more knowledge about the English
