Almost all of the drop is among Republicans (dropping from 86% approval to 70% approval)...which means it's retaliation over the UAE deal. The only other time he fell that low among Republicans was with the Miers nomination...and he quickly rebounded strongly from that mistake. When the fireworks start with Iran, the reasons for the Dubai deal will become apparent...and all will be forgiven. (Hint: Strait of Hormuz, Tunb islands, and protecting the shipping channel) |

Just curious, what do you think a Cheney indictment will do to Bush's numbers? Remember Fitzgerald? I'm hoping Cheney steps down, so that Bush can appoint a VP who will be the frontrunner for the Republican nominee in 2008. Perhaps Jeb. ;-) When the fireworks start with Iran, the reasons for the Dubai deal will become apparent...and all will be forgiven. But as the article says: "You can never assume that just because a government knows something is unviable, it won't go ahead and do it." As unattractive as the options are, they're still better than a nuclear Iran. |

Fitzgerald has screwed up the case so bad that it will linger until GWB leaves office and then a "report" will be issued condeming some in the Bush administration. http://www.theatlantic.com/doc/200412/fallows Thanks. Yeah, I found it quite interesting, and probably, somewhat accurate as to how these decisions are made. But as the article says: "You can never assume that just because a government knows something is unviable, it won't go ahead and do it." As unattractive as the options are, they're still better than a nuclear Iran. IMO, our President just left an even greater threat, Pakistan. Dr. Khan has already done tremendous damage. http://www.newyorker.com/fact/content/?040308fa_fact And, perhaps, we, ourselves, are not without blame. http://www.counterpunch.org/hallinan02032006.html |

While in Florida for the past 4 winters I became very impressed with his capabilities and performance as Governor. He's bright, articulate, and down to earth. RCE |

He's also fluent in Spanish and married to a Mexican woman, which are huge advantages when trying to lure the fastest-growing demographic group in the country: hispanics. His son, George P., will be very successful in politics. |
