would you accept a ride off Chappaquiddick Island with Ted Kennedy or
go hunting with Dick Cheney?

Hunt with Dick!

I want to know a single hunter who has not accidentally shot anyone. I
got
peppered once and I peppered someone once too (actually someone was an
offroading jeep that was driving where he should not have been - and it
was
more of an intentional shot)

Well, now you know one. I've never shot anyone. I've been barely missed,
by
a .22, but I've not 'barely missed' anyone either (that I know of).

I got hit by a round in the Air Force. Ricochet at the range.

Air Force guys should never be allowed to shoot. However, my dad, who was
Air Force, was an exception. He was good. He could actually hit squirrels
in the head with his .22 (not always, but often enough to impress the hell
out of me!).

That is why we had Daisy Cutters. Did not have to be real close. And we
are like the telephone company. Reach out and touch you from a long ways
off.

Neither did mine. He only owned one.

Sure he did. It was the largest fab Zimmermanlike lobstaboat dealership
on the East Coast.
And he Qualified AA in the registered sporting clays shoots too.

I know of many.
I would not go hunting with a partner who had a history of
'accidents.'

That's ridiculous. You should be prosecuted for assault with
a deadly weapon. You're also lucky the guy didn't shoot
you... perhaps the rest of the world's misfortune.

I've not only been shot at, I've been shot. I have also
taken guns away from people that were hunting illegally on
land owned by my family (and no, I didn't give them back.)

I'm not sure how it is where you live, but here in NJ, wildlife, for
whatever reason, is doing quite well. Species that were quite rare a few
decades ago, are becoming common. Bear, beaver, turkey, coyote, are all
frequently sighted. We are doing something right, and, personally, I
can't see that hunting is a problem. Hell, just yesterday, I watched a
bald eagle work a local lake. That opportunity wasn't afforded several
years back.
