would you accept a ride off Chappaquiddick Island with Ted Kennedy or
go hunting with Dick Cheney?

Hunt with Dick!

I want to know a single hunter who has not accidentally shot anyone. I got
peppered once and I peppered someone once too (actually someone was an
offroading jeep that was driving where he should not have been - and it was
more of an intentional shot)

If you'd gotten "peppered" in the eyes, you wouldn't consider this trivial.
You'd hire someone to kill the other guy's entire family.

Please drop me a note when you go hunting so that I will know to keep
myself and my family the hell out of the woods during that time of
great danger....

No problem. Who says anything about woods? I usually hunt around farms and
sometimes off of my back yard (the next house is at least 100 feet away, so
the rounds usually just bounce off, only one broken window but the neighbor
never said anything - i guess he is just really cool). I dont hunt from my
truck. I guess that's illegal now. I only do that when i am 100% confident
that there is no one around and the next car is at least 100 feet away.

hello - you have two eyes... there are more important parts then eyes.. if
you ever get hit on your ass, you can't sit without some pain for weeks.. so
you end up standing a lot and then you have to catch up all that TV you
missed (OLN and Speed channel Nascar)

Well, now you know one. I've never shot anyone. I've been barely missed, by
a .22, but I've not 'barely missed' anyone either (that I know of).

Air Force guys should never be allowed to shoot. However, my dad, who was
Air Force, was an exception. He was good. He could actually hit squirrels
in the head with his .22 (not always, but often enough to impress the hell
out of me!).

It takes one hell of a brave macho man to stalk and shoot one of those
dangerous squirrels.

Fresh is always better than day old road kill. ;-)

Squirrels and rabbits were on the dinner table at least three times a week
when I was a kid. My father didn't own all the boat dealerships in
Connecticut.

That is why we had Daisy Cutters. Did not have to be real close. And we
are like the telephone company. Reach out and touch you from a long ways

Neither did mine. He only owned one.

Sure he did. It was the largest fab Zimmermanlike lobstaboat dealership
on the East Coast.
And he Qualified AA in the registered sporting clays shoots too.

I would not go hunting with a partner who had a history of
'accidents.'

That's ridiculous. You should be prosecuted for assault with
a deadly weapon. You're also lucky the guy didn't shoot
you... perhaps the rest of the world's misfortune.

I've not only been shot at, I've been shot. I have also
taken guns away from people that were hunting illegally on
land owned by my family (and no, I didn't give them back.)

I'm not sure how it is where you live, but here in NJ, wildlife, for
whatever reason, is doing quite well. Species that were quite rare a few
decades ago, are becoming common. Bear, beaver, turkey, coyote, are all
frequently sighted. We are doing something right, and, personally, I
can't see that hunting is a problem. Hell, just yesterday, I watched a
bald eagle work a local lake. That opportunity wasn't afforded several
years back.
