Why such a date on the O.P?

"cannot reply" except to complicit you?

The article was written by a salesman, oops, broker, who always sell
the most profitable first.

Your requirements may vary.

Mine are for: primarily, third party liability. IF my boat slips its
mooring and drifts into a low bridge and pokes out the eye of a
schoolbus driver, which ultimately cripples 20 kids, I want to be
covered. IF it sinks and presents a danger to shipping, I am liable for
clearing the channel and repairing boats holed or entangled in it's
rigging. I want coverage.

This type of insurance is very cheap.

I am willing to accept the loss of the vessel, it's a toy. If it was my
livelyhood, whatever, I might want more coverage.

I would want agreed repair or replacement cost, or outstanding lien
coverage, if I had a loan, and a good survey, amortised over the three
year period usual for renewal policies, mabey even some travel
coverage, to come home, or shop.

Foreign medical coverage might be nice, if I plan and float plan a trip
with them, a life saving service they could promote.

I want the survey of a replacement covered, and my choise of surveyor.

Boat loss or damage insurance is more expensive. My mast was replaced,
after lightning damaged it. I was willing to help the rigger, so helped
the company reduce it's loss. I should get a medal for that, but my
ins co didn't recognise the opportunity to boost a customer and it's
own rep. A discount coupon for other insurance would have been a smart
move, no?

We don't see service like that from megacorps anymore. I guess they
think it doesn't matter.
