Using full-power .454 ammunition, the Casull's purpose is close-up protection from in-your-face predators with fangs and claws. If your original intention was to land that salmon when momma grizz suddenly takes exception to your presence, that Casull will come in mighty handy. -- Skipper Moron. The "intended purpose" (according to Dick Casull) for that caliber was hunting. In every test you see in the gun publications, the muzzle flash is enormous. In a dark encounter with a bad guy, the flash would blind you, and the second shot, which you MUST be ready for, would be next to impossible to aim accurately. You could probably find ONE gun shop owner who'd recommend such a gun for defense, but he'd probably be a descendant of the same toothless idiot who spawned you. |
