Aphis, Bee, Cicada, Cockchafer, Cricket, Glower, Gnat, Ladybird, Mantis,
Moth, Scarab and Tarantula

But a tarantula is not an insect....

"Arthropod Class" just didn't have the same cachet.

True, of course. But I don't think the Admiralty was that concerned (and
besides, "Arthropod class" doesn't sound too good).
