Two sailors die, one missing from sunken tugboat off Cape Fear Costello said Wednesday he didn't know what caused the barge bound for Corpus Christi, Texas, to sink. The company has owned the Valour since 1975, and the tug was pulling a 500-foot barge loaded with about 5.5 million gallons of petroleum byproduct when it went down. "It was just a normal trip," he said. I am surprised that a tugboat and barge consider gale force winds off of Cape Fear to be "normal". Barge's have never really looked that stable to me, a flat bottom boat in heavy seas seems a recipe for disaster. -- Reggie ****** |
