I've never understood polygamy. The very idea of having more than one wife at a time seems catastrophic. Not when you have little kids. It'd be helpful to have a built-in babysitter whenever you felt like taking the "other" wife out. After the kids move out, I don't see much use for it...unless they maintained separate living quarters, and you could hop from pad to pad as needed. Years ago I worked with a Pakistani. He supported the concept of multiple wives. His wife could not contain her giggling when I asked why can't a women have mutiple husbands? She can handle multiple husbands a lot better than a man can handle multiple wives. One of the better musicals was based on this premise. Paint Your Wagon. |
