Default Ping: Shortwave Sportfishing

Tom:
My son got a pool cue stick for Christmas. The grip is made of wound
thread/string, like some older fishing poles. After he removed the plastic
shrink wrap from the wooden sections of the stick, it appeared to him that
he should do the same with the wrapped area. It turned out it was lacquered,
and a significant portion of the lacquer came off in one big chunk. I
figured the thing to do was remove all of it, which will be easy, and then
apply a different type of lacquer. Is there an appropriate product that's
available at hardware stores? What do you suggest?
-Doug
