I fell hard on a city sidewalk one year and it took me a month to recover.... I must have bruised my ribs. |

I think this is one of our last winters in New England as much as I hate to admit it - or want to do it for that matter. Wife wants to move South - I want to stay. We'll see. Later, Tom I'll go with her! I'll need my own room c/w bath facilities and a boat to play with. |

Eisboch I forgot...was there a reason you moved back to the land of ice, snow, and reindeer? Tire of Florida? Loved south Florida winters, but Mrs.E's parents are getting up there in age, my mother is getting up there as well and they all require more help. That, plus grandkids growing up too fast and Mrs. E's two 1000 lb pets all added up to shorter and shorter periods in Florida to the point where it just doesn't make sense to pay the taxes and maintenance costs for a house down there. Condos are just not for me. I may go back to plan A, and bring the Navigator back down there next fall and spend a week or two on it a few times during the ice age months up here. Eisboch |

That's a great idea. The other day (after our latest snow) I was driving down a back road and saw a guy pushing a spreader across his yard. At first I laughed because it looked so unnatural until I realized what he was doing. I wonder if the Home Depot or Lowes carries them this time of year. Eisboch |

"Harry Krause" wrote in message ... Naw. You're one of the good guys. Enjoy it. Is that the Bimmer with the V10 and 500 hp? Hehehe. I told my wife last night we *needed* a Porsche Cayman S. She just laughed at me. Oh well. That's the one. Redlines at 8,200 RPM. I am required to put 1200 miles of easy driving on it to break in the engine, transmission and tires. At 1200 miles the dealer changes all fluids and you are good to go for the next 15,000 miles. I had to laugh when I was instructed as to the break in requirements, confirmed by the owner's manual and a sticker on the windshield. During the first 1200 miles you are supposed to avoid full throttle starts, engine RPM's over 5,500 and speeds over 107 mph, although an occasional burst to 137 mph for short periods of time is ok. Right. What blows my mind is that the engine develops 500 hp (actually 507) without the benefit of a turbo. We looked at the Porsche Cayman turbo a year or so ago and one of our friends in Florida had one. The only problem with it was that the performance tires are so soft and gooey that they have to be replaced every 8-12 months. Eisboch |

I rented a couple of storage units for the GTO and the '46 Ford for the winter. The General is snug in a heated garage, next to the M5. But there's more. At the risk of really sounding like an ass ..... (but those that know us will understand) The reason I bought the M5 is because I was actually buying Mrs. E. a new car, which is now sitting in the main house garage. It's a 2006 BMW 750 li. Gorgeous car. As the salesman was going through the paperwork process for this purchase, I happened to notice the M5 sitting in a corner of the showroom with a bunch of people standing around it. I wandered over, realized what it was, and the bug hit. Turns out almost all the M5's are pre-sold (they just started shipping them to the US this passed fall), but this one was available. One thing led to another and we ended up picking up both cars that evening. Both cars respond to voice commands and are bluetooth enabled for your cell phones. All your cell phone numbers and settings are transmitted to the car's communication system and, when you say, "Communications" they are displayed on the car's display panel. Say "Radio" and then "FM", then "101.5" and the system automatically tunes the radio. Basically every adjustable feature of the car can be addressed by voice commands, or by manual buttons, if desired. It's going to take quite a while to figure everything out. Eisboch |

That's an option I didn't get. :) Problem is, I have become a very conservative driver as time passes, rarely going over the speed limit. I took it for a ride on Rt 3 towards the Cape yesterday and, while accelerating on to the highway and shifting manually, I suddenly realized I was in fifth of the seven gears and doing over 90 mph. There really is no sensation of speed. Eisboch |
