Bill,
I don't believe the protestors deserved to be shot, but when I hear
people placing the blame for the tragedy entirely on the National
Guard, it makes me sick. Those guys were scared to death, and the
protestors were doing their best to make sure they stayed scared.

No, dummy, I'm not. I'm suggesting that the government in this
country
is sometimes no different than the government in the PRC. It kills
people when there is no reason for it.
Harry, you need to do some research into this incident. I do
believe the
shootings were justified. The police were shooting in self defense
against
people tossing fire bombs at them and attacking with machete type
weapons.
This is easily verified with the reports by the independent news
agencies
there, including your own government's agency who reported it for
Radio Free
Asia.

Jim C.

So the Kent State protesters who threw dangerous rocks, were also
justified in being shot down?

The protestors did not deserve to be shot at. 4 unarmed student
protestors were killed, 9 wounded. I don't care if rocks were being
thrown.

The blame goes to James Rhodes, governor of Ohio at the time, who sent
in the National Guard and to General Canterbury who ordered the Guard
members to lock and load their weapons. The rest is history and tragic.

But Harry and JimC say the Chinese deserved to be shot as they were
tossing things.

Sorry, Dummy, but my point was that the US government is no different than
the Chinese government: they both kill their citizens.

But if they are throwing things it is OK to shoot. I understand you.

How the ACLU and other secularist Grinches have almost stolen Christmas -
and how you can fight back now

The War on Christmas

by John Gibson

"Happy holidays!" Every time a supermarket checker or store clerk greets you
with those words instead of "Merry Christmas," you have met another soldier
in the war against Christmas. Secularists are bent on imposing upon us a
neutered, secular winter holiday that throws out every trace of Christianity
from the public observance of Christmas. It's all necessary, they tell us,
to avoid offending non-Christians and, above all, to keep from violating the
all-important separation of church and state. Meanwhile, Christians in
America are increasingly marginalized and shunted aside.

In The War On Christmas: How the Conspiracy to Subvert Our Most Sacred
Holiday Is Worse Than You Thought, popular FOX News anchor John Gibson
reveals that this is not happening because of some cultural consensus.

Now see there? Contradictions already. Are there really a lot of
Christians who consider Christmas more "sacred" than Easter?

On
the contrary, he explains that a thorough and virulent anti-Christmas
campaign is being waged today by liberal activists, ACLU fanatics, craven
politicians, sinister agenda-driven educators, and witless media mavens. But
for all their efforts, the Grinches have not won: plucky Christians are
already fighting to retake their place in the public square.

According to the Constitution, the only time Christians (or any other
religionists) have a place in the public square is when they are
engaged in "speech".

Gibson reveals just how bad things have become: in Illinois, state
government workers were forbidden to say "Merry Christmas" while at work. In
Rhode Island, local officials banned Christians from participating in a
public project to decorate the lawn of City Hall. A New Jersey school banned
even instrumental versions of traditional Christmas carols. And Arizona
school officials ruled it unconstitutional for a student to make any
reference to the religious history of Christmas in a class project. But
according to Gibson, despite what the ACLU says, all of this is completely
unnecessary from a genuine Constitutional perspective: the last thing on the
Founding Fathers' mind when they wrote that "Congress shall make no law
respecting an establishment of religion" was the banning of all public
celebration of Christmas.

That's because there *WAS NO PUBLIC CELEBRATION* of Christmas when the
fathers founded! Congress was in session December 25, 1789- the first
year of government under our new constitution.

What's more, the Left's campaign to infringe upon Christians' free exercise
of their religion has not achieved total victory.

What a crock. Show me one case of a Christian being denied the
opportunity to exercise the Christian religion. "Exercising the
Christian religion" shouldn't include forcing jews, muslims, and
non-believers to acknowledge a Christian diety, not even for a single
day of the year.

Gibson shows how millions
of Americans are starting to fight back against the secularist forces and
liberal local officials. He shows you how you can help save Christmas from
being twisted beyond recognition. The War on Christmas is a perfect gift for
all those who want to restore Christianity to its rightful place in American
public life -- give it to them with a hearty "Merry Christmas!"

There is no rightful place for a religious holiday in American public
life. If celebrated as a secular holiday, nobody should care (or
proclaim a religious insult) when somebody says "happy holiday" or (as
the President says in the official White House Christmas card)
"Season's Greetings."

The War on Christmas reveals:

- Proof: Christmas is under attack in such a sustained and strategized
manner that there is without any doubt a war on Christmas

- How the Constitutional concept of non-establishment of a religion has
been twisted into a hostility to Christianity that is itself quite obviously
unconstitutional

- Common sight in American public schools every December: Hanukkah and
Kwanza decorations proliferating everywhere, but nary a mention of Christmas

Yuppers. Watch our for those negroes and Jews. They're takin' over.
(Fact: Most schools who ban the religious symbols of Christmas also ban
Chanuka and Kwanza decorations).

I can't wait to get my copy. :-)

The reality is, Christmas itself is a canard, a holiday

celebrating is a holiday created from whole cloth by Constantine the
Great in the fourth century. He picked the same date as an existing
pagan festival.

Jesus, a pious Jewish man, probably would have disdained the holiday

This is so funny! Where did you read this? I love it how people re-write

A book I read some years ago discussed the issue of why some Christians
are so insistent on pushing their beliefs onto others. One of the theories
offered had to do with group nervousness, that is, significant numbers of
persons who didn't believe tended to shake the faith of those who did, who
then began to exhibit self-doubt.

Group think. The converted must be constantly watched for they may engage
their brains again and realize that they are being fed a bunch of crap and
it doesn't taste good.

There may be some truth to that. History tells us that those who "doubted"
the Christian faith or simply didn't believe in it often were slaughtered,
tortured, jailed, or exiled. Maybe we're seeing a bit of that again.

Islam has the same characteristic.

The utter smarminess of those in this newsgroup shoveling "Christianity,"
the fact that Christmas is being "defended" by some Faux News sleazeball,
I dunno, it's enough to drive someone even considering Christianity back

It may not be a case of simple mindedness. Perhaps its just that the

If the Whos aren't keeping Christmas in their hearts- it doesn't matter

religious carols about the "birth of the Savior" being sung in every
