I did not say I don't know what I mean, why don't you take a SWAG at what I mean? Why not take a SWAG? Well, because most of us are not the kind of decent upright Christians who go around with our minds in the gutter. Most of us do not assume that when two colleagues, working out of town, want to try a recreational activity that doesn't interest anyone else in their workgroup, that there must be a sexual basis for their interest. It would certainly never have occured to me without yer tacky inuendo. Is this what Jesus has given you? A mean-sprited, narrow-minded, fault-finding, back-biting view of life? The presumption that everyone operates out of the most base motives? I'll bet you thank Jesus every day for his gifts I have a friend who has figured out that the reason Christians attribute disgusting motivations to everyone else is that they are constantly battling those same disgusting motivations within themselves, and they cannot believe that the rest of us operate under a diferent set of motivations. They cannot understand that the operative word in "secular humanist" is "humanist"; that we tend to operate, without conscious thought or the need to resist any vile impulses, by principles of humanity and humanitarianism -- courtesy, consideration, love, trust, and generosity. My apologies to all the kind, decent Christians who read this. It's just that those fundamentalist assholes give you all a bad name. -Richard, His Kanubic Travesty Richard, First off, I don't recall saying anything about Christian values or morals, or anything along that line. I was just making a comment about the reality of the world in which we live! If you have difficulty dealing with reality, I would recommend a good reality check. It seems that your high minded humanist principles knew exactly what I was referring to. I don't think you claim to be a Christian, so I expect that those awareness' to the inuendos, like it or not, come from your deep well of high-browed humanism. Your gutter was already there, if you choose to ignore it, and then complain when it is brought into view, I suggest that is your problem. Secondly I was not saying that I understood all the facts of the case, since we were given little info. However the jist of this thread is why do people do stupid things, and one major reason often involves mixing relationships under the circumstances that these two found themselves. They may have been totally up and up in what they were up to, but that would not change the theme of the thread. Third, If you choose to write a memorial to these outstanding upright, colleagues, then I would suggest that this is not the forum or the thread for that statement. I find it amusing whenever someone dies, and all the sad sacks come out and post "Oh how terrible it is" when the people who died were doing what they wanted to be doing. If they were up to mischief, that is not the issue except how it teaches us how to avoid making the same stupid mistakes. Fourth, If you desire to discuss the Christian ethic, and the Humanist ethic, I would be glad to do so, but I will leave the door open for you to make a graceful escape. I have been avoiding that conversation until now, being content to comment in this NG just as a paddler, with my eyes open to see reality one day at a time. I do appreciate your concern about my ongoing view of life, but I assure you that I am quite happy and well adjusted to the world in which we live, and yes I do thank Jesus every day for His good gifts, of which my life overflows! If you and Richard wish to have a private conversation, you would do so in a private forum (e.g. direct email) rather than public (a newsgroup that can be viewed by anyone in the world with an internet connection). I did not say it was a private conversation, more like a big party where everyone is standing around in small groups discussing various topics, where you are welcome to stand and listen, hardly private. However only a first class boore would crash into a conversation where a comment was directed to a specific individual even in that setting. Usually if you wait a bit, the converstions will turn and you will have your opportunity to participate, and to inject your all important perspective. Like I said before, King Kong crashed around in the urban jungle. Party season with you must be a real challenge to listen and learn! Allowing someone else to be the most important person in the room! Remember what I am saying on that special evening you are planning and selling tickets for, everytime you start to share your unlimited insight! If you remember this, everyone else will have a great time! OvO |

Again KKKman crashing the party? Now he did walk away from this group, so your participation now is more that acceptable, and we can carry on out discussion. Cute couple! No, basically I don't care who you convort with, just don't kayak without a PFD and drown, and then get written up in the local rag! If you do that, then it becomes obligatory for this NG to discuss your stupid decisions that led up to your demise! Otherwise enjoy your trip! OvO |

No, basically I don't care who you convort with, just don't kayak without a PFD and drown That did not seem to be your position, as you kept making weird references about their ages and some other cryptic comments about how whatever they were doing together somehow might have contributed to their deaths. and then get written up in the local rag! If you do that, then it becomes obligatory for this NG to discuss your stupid decisions that led up to your demise! Otherwise enjoy your trip! OvO This is amazing. You have gone full blown delusional! You are the only one on this newsgroup I can recall that did any such speculating about these two people. |
