Celiac recipies: Cabbagonya
Celiac sufferers cannot eat gluten, an ingredient in wheat, bread, etc.
Cabbagonya is like Lasagna, but is made with cabbage in lieu of pasta. We put Mott's extra spicy clamato in the sauce, and it is some good! Some rice in the cottage cheese adds to the nutrition, carbo-wise. We also use it in cabbage rolls, with blackened skins. Yum! If you're gonna do this for a Celiac sufferer, be sure that there is no wheat (used commonly as filler and stiffener) in the ingredient list. It can be cooked or warmed in a sterno mountain stove on gimbals at sea, and this contributes significantly to warming the cabin. It can be pre-cooked and then frozen to act as ice before a weekend departure. Terry K |
