I got hordes of relatives coming over the holidays, and they all have
laptops or so it seems.
Why would they travel to see you, your wife and their other relatives
but
bring their laptops with them?

Is this something that runs in the family Harry? ;-)
Why do you find that so unbelievable? I take my laptop most everywhere.
Even for weekend jaunts. I like to have access to all of my files, plus
email, addresses, etc.

Jim still has an 8-track in his '54 Studebaker.

Damn, I wish I had a '54 Studebaker. ;-)

Me, too. I liked the later "Lark," too.

The Lark was OK, but not to my liking. Here is a 1960 model.

Compare it to a '54 Commander Starliner:

No contest. The Starliner takes the prize.

The '62 Hawk Coupe was about the coolest:

Unfortunately I never really got to see any of them up close during my early
years of driving.

Regarding 8 tracks: Go to any flea market and you can still find 8 track
players and tapes. My buddy had a reverb unit with his 8 track.....I never
liked the sound.

I can only imagine the difference in quality of the sound coming out of
those 8 tracks as compared to the quality of sound coming out of even a
factory standard cd player and speakers in today's cars.

My first car was a 1951 Studebaker. Drank oil, using about a quart every hundred
miles. Had a good radio and heater, but no fan on the heater. It was a radiator
under the seat. My younger brother totalled it. Then I got a '57 Chevy with the
283 Power Pack engine. Cool car.
