Default OT--the bias in the AP-Ipsos poll

Busted!

Question #1:

Do your beliefs tend to lean more toward the Democrats or the Republicans?

REGISTERED

VOTERS

Strongly Republican .......................... 19

Moderately Republican ..................... 21

Definitely Independent/neither........... 8

Moderately Democrat........................ 26

Strongly Democrat ............................ 25

Refused/not sure............................. 1

Total Republican ............................ 40

Total Democrat ............................... 51

For the respondents asked later in the survey, the results were 39%
Republican, 52% Democrat.

Bush's approval rating is at 37% in this poll...which isn't surprising
considering the party affiliation demographics of the polling sample.

Bush's rating is at 36% in the new Fox poll.

Remarkably consistency among the legitimate polls.

Rasmussen has him at 44% for the past two days in a row. Show me a dip
below 40% in Rasmussen's poll and I might believe you.

Fox, like most news organizations, subcontracts out most of its poll work.

Yes...too groups like Ipsos...whose polls consist of data from a population
that is 52% Democrats and only 39% Republicans.

If a statistically significant random sample of registered voters yields 52%
whose "beliefs tend to lean more toward the Democrats" why is it necessarily
invalid (beyond it's margin of error)?
