I never understood WHY it's necessary to announce a departure. You want
to leave -- leave. Who cares? No need to announce it

I care and will miss his comments, but many of us understand his

I wonder if Jim's visitors just get up and walk out of the house after dinner.

I see it more as leaving a bar -- you just get up and leave if you don't
like the conversation.

Well, most of the time (when I used to frequent bars) I would say something
along the lines of, "Gotta run, folks. ya'll have a good time."

That seems like pretty normal behavior.

What a delight. The person that frequently goes off the deep end here,
and will call someone the exact same name, or post the exact same
phrase to someone many, many times over, no matter what the subject,
trying to tell others what is "normal behavior"!!
