Estonia was the biggest "peacetime" desaster here in Scandinavia and was
investigated wery detailed - the accident wasen`t quite that simple.

I still remember the morning where it happened heard it on the radio on my
way to work - i couldent belive what i heard - i thourght it was a radio
drama - not the real thing - but quickly discovered that it was bad - realy
bad - many famies here in Scandinavia lost someone that night.

The safety standard of Scandinavian wessels where high (and Estonia had just
been refalgged to Estonian flag form Swedish flag) but many things happened
at the same time + the estonian crew where not trained and experienced with
this type of wessel - you can reed it all in the final report.

No, the locking mechanism was broken and the door sprung open, but, some
fool should have notified the captain that the front ramp was not locking
into position, before they left the harbor.
