I don't use knots - I use Super Glue or 3M 5300.

I've got a monkey's fist that my wife's dad gave me. He was a Merchant
Marine in S.F. You'd be surprised how little time it takes him to make
one.

I see monkey fist knots a lot in nautical shops used as key chain fobs.
