My marina has indidcated that the crankshaft dampener is going on my
1969 in-line 6 mercruiser. Can someone give me an idea what it does and where I can find the part for my old engine. It's a 200 HP (same block as the in line 165HP). Thank-you |

Hi Tom,
I believe that it is some kind of automobile engine that has been converted to a marine application. If so, you might be able to buy on at an auto parts store if you can identify it. It should be a Ford, GM or Chrysler product? -- Bill Kiene Kiene's Fly Shop Sacramento, CA www.kiene.com "tom clark" wrote in message m... Tom- If it's the same as the 165hp mercruiser then it's a chevy/GM 250
cubic inch inline or straight six, very popular in the seventies, but I've never heard of a 200hp version, I think the 200hp would be the 292cu. in. chevy/GMC I'm not sure if the balancer would be the same, but you could check in the local auto parts. The 292 came in chevy/GMC vans from 75' thru 78', probably came in trucks too. Good Luck. Tom. |

I think that Chevy had the195ci (Nova), 235ci (real standard), the 250ci
(only one with counter balances on the crank) and the 292ci straight six motors in those days. If you can identify it, you can use a part from the auto industry as long as the belt pulley to drive "stuff " (generator/alternator, water pump) is the same? -- Bill Kiene (old hot rodder) Kiene's Fly Shop Sacramento, CA www.kiene.com wrote in message ...
