The federal gov't used to pay close to 50% of health care costs...now it's

I think Edwards was the best choice, from the Rep pov. We now have a pair
of East Coast lawyers running -- one a New England liberal (remember how
well Dukakis did?) and the other a smooth-talkin' southern ambulance chaser.
Edwards will be polarizing to a degree - for good or ill, the country still
remembers the last young, syrupy, southern lawyer that talked his way into
the WH.

Edwards on the stump will make Kerry look like even more of a stick than he
actually is. Additionally, (and this will be the most fun to observe), a
Kerry/Edwards win in '04 could arguably set up the Democrat candidacy stream
through 2016, meaning that Hillary would be into her 70s before her next
shot in 2020. You can bet your farm that the Clintons will be carefully and
quietly working to sabotage the Kerry campaign.

the White House.

Virtually all Democrats are united behind the Kerry-Edwards ticket, and
will do everything they can to make sure they are elected. That includes
the Clintons. The only Democrat I know who is voting for Bush is the
idiot known as California Bill, and his only claim to being a Democrat
is that he says he is one.

If the Clintons tried to undercut Kerry, the word would get out fast.

Personally, I'd welcome Hillary Clinton as POTUS, if and when she
decides to run. She scares the crap out of Republicans and, on that
basis alone, is worthy of election.

I see where President Doofus is flying to North Carolina, purportedly to
prop up a judicial nominee. Right.

There's no better way than this to fire up the Republican base and turn

out
even the most apathetic Republican voter this November:

Hey, NOYB, using your analogy, that anyone misspells, uses poor
grammar, or punctuation, they are stupid, here you go.

Cheney is in deep, deep doo-doo from his months of lies, his
war-mongering, and his hallucinations about Saddam and Iraq, and even,
among the prissy, for his potty mouth. I think the August surprise may
be the dumping of Cheney from the ticket for "health" reasons.

Could very well be. If it happens, McCain, Powell, or Guiliani could
replace him. However, in a second Bush term, I expect Rumsfeld to leave,
Powell to slide to Sec of Defense, and Giuliani to replace Ashcroft.

I suspect that Powell and Rummy will be "federally" unemployed next
January. I don't know what Rudy does for a living these days.

If Kerry/Edwards takes off in the polls, GWB may be faced with trying to mend
fences with McCain.

"Yes, John, I know I told all those terrible lies about you in 2000 and I know
that John Kerry is one of your best friends in the Senate, but can't we let
by-gones be by-gones and ignore friendship for the good of the party?"

As a Democrat, you better hope they run with Cheney. Certain other choices,
(such as McCain), would all but guarantee the Republicans another four years.
