Default Mercury 225Hp Optimax, 2000.. Burns too much oil?

It would be a good idea to not run it a 5000 except for brief bursts, I
limit my rpm while cruising to 4500 and usually around 4200-4300. but my
motors are pretty much wide open at 5000 with max (WOT) being about 5200.
Anyway, other than break-in you should get about 40-50:1 or more if you do a
lot of slow trolling. The oiling rate is not adjustable it is set by the
computer according to stored maps.
