The key words are "research"...and "causes". Once a disease has manifested,
a doctor treats the patient to rid him/her of that disease...and the doc is
employing medical techniques that are based on "knowns"...not in
"randomness".

Somebody should explain to the boy that chaos theory is a complex set of
mathematical theorems which replace statistics & some types of calculus
in the analysis of large fields of data.

impossible to accurately determine cause and effect. The weather is one such
system, as well as research into causes of specific cancers. Social
scientists feel that large populations also fall into this category.
