NEW DECKBOAT Outboard or I/O

I am in the market for a new deckboat and have a few ???
1. I am looking at a Starcraft Arurora 2410. It comes I/O or outboard, I am
kind of leaning toward the outboard. One dealer has it with a 200 or 225 Suzuki
4 stroke engine at a good price. Another dealer in town sells it as a Vector
241 with a Yamaha 200 or 225 4 stroke at a considerably higher price. I am
confused as to which is a better engine with repairs, warranty and service.
Need some feedback on this topic. Both are 2004 models.

2. I have also looked at Bennington RL210 with Yamaha 150 4 stroke. Crownline
EX240 Only I/O. 4Winns 234 Funship Only I/O. SeaRay 240 Sundeck only I/O.
I can get a good deal on the Bennington because the dealer is closing them out.
The others are more expensive.

The Aruora only comes with the Suzuki engine. I am just not sure if that
engine is worth the price difference or if I would be making a mistake with
that engine over the Yamaha???? Need advice !!!

NEW DECKBOAT Outboard or I/O

I personally would go w/ an I/O in a 24' boat. The problem is they are very
heavy and you need lots of torque more so than hp.
The Starcraft is a good boat and I know several poeple who have them (there
is a good local dealer around here). I know of 2 outboards and both are the
2015 and have the 200 hp merc engine on them. Does fine on this boat but in
a 24 it is going to be seriously underpowered. I would also stay away from
the 210 Bennington as it will be underpowered as well. If you find that you
want to run the engine much over 4000 rpms most of the time - you are
underpowered.
I personally like Merc engines due to the ease of parts, people who can work
on them, and resale value for same reasons.

Having said all that -- I would get prices from each of the Crownline,
FourWinns, SeaRay w/ the 5.0L EFI and 5.7L EFI. I would prefer the 5.7L but
price may not be worth it for you. They are all three good boats. Base
your choice on:
1. Price
2. Options/features that meet your needs
3. Dealer location and reputation

One other thing - on the trailer get surge brakes w/ disks (don't get
drums).
