Default Rum

I didn't put OT in front, because if this isn't ON topic I don't know what
is!

The dark and stormy, yoo hoo, moxie comments in that most excellent thread
old farts, made me think of rum.
Picture Homer Simpson saying, Ruuum.

I had an Appleton Estate rum that I brought home from Jamaica in a life a
long time ago. I'm not an accomplished alcohol drinker, but I enjoyed this
rum straight ( could have had more to do with the cute blonde I was drinking
with). Normally I hide the taste of alcohol in whatever I can.

What is your favorite rum to drink neat? And just to keep it honest do you
ever drink rum while on your boat?

My most favorite rum is Havana Club 7 year Old Dark Rum, to drink neat.

I NEVER drink alcohol on any boat. I wait for after meals on shore. It
would take a whole year for me to drink one bottle of rum.

Dogfish Head Brown Honey Rum

From their website: http://www.dogfish.com/spirits.cfm

Brown Honey Rum: A double-distilled, amber rum aged on American oak and
wildflower honey. Dark and smooth, this rum has a subtle woody character
from the oak aging and a touch of sweetness derived from the honey.
Available for distribution in DE, MD &PA

I love settling in on the aft deck after a full day on the water, and having
a drink or two. On cooler days, the hot tub works too.

With friends over a nice chat, or a good game of chess, or just even
watching the sun go down, is all good with a cocktail.

My favorite "tropical" rum drink recipe, comes from my Mother...

A tall glass with ice..
1 jigger Malibu Coconut rum
1 jigger Meyers Dark rum
1 dash of Angostura (sp?) bitters
Top of with Pineapple juice

Another variation is with Malibu Mango rum, and OJ instead of Pineapple...or
even a mixture of the two.

Rum, rum...I mean...yum, yum!

And I may have a beer, or a glass of wine with a meal, but other than that,
if I am underway and skippering, I don't drink.
