I'm sure you're aware that the next race is 2007!
In 2006 it's the Halifax to Saint-Pierre et Miquelon Race.
This would be great for those here who love all things French.

Thanks for the suggestion. The Marblehead - Halifax race is a two day race
with a party before and after the race, so it makes for a nice week long
vacation. The Halifax to St. -Pierre Race would probably take two weeks for
the race and activities.

I have always found sleeping on board will help you get your sea legs.

You're correct. The wife and I lived in Ayers. Luckily, we spent only a few
months there.

The four towns formerly comprising parts of Ft. Devens are finally enjoying
some growth and recovery. When the base was operating, the towns were
fairly typical base towns, particularly Ayer, and they were devastated when
Devens closed. Now the bulk of the base infrastructure area has been
converted to commercial/industrial development, and is showing some success.
Ayer, Harvard, Lancaster, and Shirley are also experiencing growth and
construction as population moves to the area to take advantage of additional
ongoing development along the I-495 belt nearby. You might be favorably
impressed by Ayer Main Street today.

Thanks for the info. I didn't even know Ft. Devins had closed, which shows how
much attention I've been paying.

At the time, I was bringing home about $130/mo, counting the wife's allotment.
We didn't have enough money to do much 'touristing'. The 196th Brigade, my unit,
was gearing up for Vietnam, so I didn't have a lot of free time. We did manage
to get to the dog races in Boston, I think, a couple times a month. That was
cheap.

For us it is pop. For many others it is soda.

How about you?

40+ years here in Ohio...always has been "pop".

Don,
I don't remember the "game", but my guess is Harry won. Over the years no
one has been as insulting as he is. I would guess he would win hands

down,
and it would be declared "no contest".

It is refreshing to see you admit that Harry is the person who sent
rec.boats down the crapper flame fest, many years ago.

No doubt about.

Krause is solely responsible for this groups downward spiral.

What's even funnier, he doesn't even own a boat!

He is also a proven liar...many times over.

What a pathetic little nit-wit he is...

Netsock,
Did you see his lie about playing Rugby at U of Kansas. When caught at the
lie, he said the Rugby official historian was wrong.

He and his 17 identities are in my kill file, so I only "see" him when
someone (who is not in my kill file) responds, but this sounds like a
typical Krause lie...there are way too many to count.

The funny ones are his boating stories...

He once claimed to trailer his boat down to the ramp, just to see if he
could launch it by himself, however, posting records showed the longest he
was idle from this group, was 35 minutes. He claimed there was a imposter
posting as him, but the headers proved him wrong. He ignored the rest of the
thread when caught, and it was right after that when he marked his posts for
no-archive. LOL!

He also claimed a bay trip once, but again, his posting times made the trip
impossible. He would have averaged 65kph, or something like that. When
caught on that one, I believe he claimed to have a sat-com downlink to his
boat. LOL!

The best recent lie, is his claim to use a GPS to set trim on a boat. He
claimed he could watch the speed in hundreds of a second, to see if his
trimming was working! Of course, anybody with a real boat knows that a wind
shift of a knot or two, tides, currents, and even waves will effect topical
(GPS) speed reading, especially if watching your hundredths! LOL!

There are too many to list, but he *is* funny is a pathetic sort of way.
Just let the twit live in his fantasy house, with his fantasy wife, and his
fantasy boat.

Every group has a village idiot, and ours is named Harry Krause. :)

Interesting thread. I always thought it was a "Canada vs US" thing: "pop"
in Canada, "soda" in the US.

For whatever reason, it is a *very* localized regional thing.
Generally (although it can vary even from one city to the next) "Pop" in
the north, "Soda" in the southwest, midwest, and northeast, and "Coke"
in the south.

Personally, I say either coke (for any cola) or pop (for almost all
carbonated drinks including cola).

Lying is a symptom of NPD (Narcissistic Personality Disorder). We should be
trying to help Harry, not denigrate him.
