If I were Kevin and had just been compared to Harry, I'd be greatly upset.
I'd
be tempted to use foul language.

Don,
I don't remember the "game", but my guess is Harry won. Over the years no
one has been as insulting as he is. I would guess he would win hands down,
and it would be declared "no contest".

It is refreshing to see you admit that Harry is the person who sent
rec.boats down the crapper flame fest, many years ago.

All right Mr. Pseudo Skipper...
When hostility broke out between you and Harry a couple of years ago,
another poster and myself offered our services as referee and scorekeeper,
as you and harry battled 'toe to toe' with digs and insults directed at
each other.
Do you remember the final score before we called it a 'no contest' and in
who's favour?

So using JimH's analogy, since you answered to the question I posed to
Skipper...you *are* the 'acting skipper'.
Thanks for clearing this mystery.

Don, Kevin has already tried this approach. Since I answered this post, does
that make me 'Skipper' also?

No..but could make you another 'Smithers clone'.

Mr. Skip Starbuck October 2nd 05 02:22 PM

Don,
Since you responded to my posts, does that make you a "Smithers Clone"? Or
are you a "Skipper Clone". This whole thing is getting way to scary and
out of control, the Smithers and Skippers are taking over. Every where I
look I see another Skipper or Smithers.

All that has been outed is that I believe that you are Jim Gallow/Gallows
from Georgia who boats on Lake Lanier and a long term member of this NG.

If I am wrong, I apologize.

Since I have been outed as the new improved "Skipper", I added my first
name to my handle, to make it easier for everyone. I am sure you notice
the similarities between "Skippers" writing style and mine. I am also a
internet expert so I found it very easy to Spoof someone's IP. Whatever
you do, don't tell anyone. Spoofing is illegal, and most ISP's will
prosecute anyone who spoofs an IP. Let's just keep this between you and
me.

JimH,
There is no reason to apologize, it really doesn't matter if I am or am not
Gallow/Gallows. If I am, so be it, if am not, I think the individual might
not like being "outed", he might think you are calling him "gay". ; )

Lose that mirror.....things will look much better!

Don,

As always you come through with an excellent suggestion, what would I do
without you? ; )

Hey if I can get off next July I would love to do the Marblehead to Halifax
Race. Do you know of anyone who needs crew for the race. I normally work
pit, but will do the sewer or grind. The only job I don't like is foredeck.

Have you ever done the race or participated in the after race parties?

You're correct. The wife and I lived in Ayers. Luckily, we spent only a few
months there.

The four towns formerly comprising parts of Ft. Devens are finally enjoying
some growth and recovery. When the base was operating, the towns were
fairly typical base towns, particularly Ayer, and they were devastated when
Devens closed. Now the bulk of the base infrastructure area has been
converted to commercial/industrial development, and is showing some success.
Ayer, Harvard, Lancaster, and Shirley are also experiencing growth and
construction as population moves to the area to take advantage of additional
ongoing development along the I-495 belt nearby. You might be favorably
impressed by Ayer Main Street today.

You might have a better chance of catching a ride with the Boston Yacht
Club gang. American yachts make up the majority of the boats.
You never know though...try here at the club our skipper belongs to...
http://www.rnsys.com/
There is an area set aside for the Marblehead/Halifax Ocean Race.
I haven't done the race...as I tend to get seasick out in heavier swells
and always worried about being in the way during a 2-3 day race such as
this. My former co-worker, a female, loved going to the parties as it
was a chance to meet 'rich American sailors'. I wasn't interested so
avoided the club...way too busy compared to the sedate normal atmosphere.
