Wal-Mart...helping America claw its way to the bottom. I disagree with you on this one Harry. The people that are working at Wal-Mart were not forced to work there. If they feel that they are be exploited, then they should quit and work elsewhere. When I was working, I went to a company where I thought I would like to work and I stayed there for over 40 years. No person forced me to work there. If I didn't like it, I would have left. Jim |

Why would anybody want a "lifelong job". If thats all you aspire to, I
cant afford to hire you. As an employeer, nobody guarantees me a lifelong job (I dont want one either). I pay well, but if you find something you like better, and do not take it, you lose a lot in my eyes even if it is about money. I encourage my people (except the older ones) to be looking for some work they can do on their own so that if things fall apart here they will have work. The ones that do not take that opportunity drive me nuts. Wal Mart seems ok for totally unskilled people. |

The area you live in can have an effect on your outlook....and yes, I know you can travel to find jobs elsewhere. This province has been losing it's young people for years to more prosperous regions. |

I started in the sales department 42 years ago and worked my way up to be the president of the company. Not too bad for a "Lifelong job". My daughter started working with the second largest bank in Canada and now after 14 years, she is a vice-president. She wants to be president. She most likely will be some day. You probably couldn't afford to hire her either. Jim |

(BTW......not to put anybody down, but a title of "Vice President" at a bank is sort of meaningless.......We recently completed a 250k s.f office building for a subsidary of an international bank....there were over 100 "vice presidents' offices") |

You said that the title of "Vice President" at a bank is sort of meaningless! I can't believe you are that uninformed and uneducated. Well, maybe you are! Jim |
