Ah yes, the Fanjul Family, corporate welfare at it's worst. I've
mentioned before, the incestuous relationship between pork and campaign
contributions. This is a prime example. The Fanjuls contribute to *both*
Republican and Democrats, but oh, the payback, $60 million in 1998. No
worries about environmental damages, the sugar industry is subsidized to
the tune of $472 per acre. Sweet deal.

You may not agree with this, but I think corporate welfare may be the
biggest and most damaging threat to this country's democracy. Both
parties are guilty. It is a very incestuous relationship between the
governmental trough and political contributions. We, as citizens, pay
dearly, both financially and environmentally.
