Big sugar got in the way. Besides, there are thousands of homes to the
south of those levees now. It's impossible to undo the damage.


There *are* efforts and ideas to help though. They're talking about
creating large reservoirs to pump the water to...and then allowing the
reservoirs to drain through the ground and through sheet flow. I can't
imagine what disaster they'll create with that idea...but you can be sure
that if government is involved in altering Mother Nature, they'll be some
fallout eventually (just like in New Orleans).
