The Future of Lake Pontchartrain...waste dump?

A huge shallow brackish lake.....41 miles x 25 miles. The lake was
reportedly in a recovery mode from previous pollution problems. Now that
the city of NO is pumping their putrid, polluted water into it what happens
to that lake and the folks who live along it? What happens to the water in
the Gulf from the flow from the lake?
